Junior Program - Go Fish With Tom

junior guide program 0 We are excited to offer our Junior Guides Program for the Summer of 2021.

The Junior Guide Program offers youth ages 15-18 (must have completed freshmen year of high school) the unique opportunity to work alongside a professional outfitter and learn how to provide a quality day of fishing for paying customers. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher to qualify. There are two sessions available each summer that consist of 6 nights and 5 days. Students will camp in the outdoors and be on the river for up to 10 hours each day, the ability to withstand inclement weather is a must. Junior Guides are provided with a one-day orientation, followed by a predetermined schedule assisting in all aspects of guiding fly fishermen including proper drift boat operation, gear prep and maintenance, setting up and breaking camp for field experiences and time in the field with simulated clients. Junior Guides are supervised and taught by Licensed Montana Outfitter and Educator Tom Caffrey. At the culmination of their experience, Junior Guides are asked to give a presentation to a team of outfitters/guides on what they have learned, and give an example of a new program, piece of equipment, or idea they have to improve the guided fly-fishing experience.

Four Junior Guide positions are offered each summer. We seek youth who are motivated, excited to learn, have a passion for fishing, as well as the time to commit to this experience. Dates for 2021 are:
Week One: August 2-6
Week Two: August 9-13

Cost: 6 nights 5 days all inclusive (meals, beverages and equipment) $1300 per student/session.
